Suzanne Dietz, co-owner of the Cackleberry Club cafe, is visiting her fiance, Dr. Sam Hazelet, at the ER on a quiet Sunday night. Suddenly, an ear-piercing scream shatters the silence and an armed commando lopes toward her carrying a duffel bag stuffed with stolen drugs. He shoots two people and aims to do more damage when Suzanne clobbers him with an exploding thermos full of chili. But as she chases him out into the parking lot, he vanishes, seemingly into thin air. The day after the shootings, Suzanne huddles with partners Toni and Petra at the Cackleberry Club. She is anxious to help solve this terrible crime. But when Sheriff Doogie arrives to question her, he gets an alert that a second drug robbery has occurred! Suzanne is determined to find answers. Was the hospital theft an inside job? Is there a connection to a gang of survivalists who have set up camp outside town? And most of all, who is this deranged killer?
